The clip above is a CCTV capture of the moment. In the video, the teacher can be seen getting a rope from her desk to tie the child's wrists. Another teacher walks past, but doesn't seem to do anything about it.
On October 22, the student's parent Mr. Shim reported the teacher for abuse, submitting the clip above as evidence. Reports state that the teacher had tied the child's wrist in order to discipline him after he had shoved the teacher in the face. Mr. Shim asserted that he noticed the child acting strangely as a result of the punishment. According to Mr. Shim, while his son normally gets along with other children, after the incident, he began shoving and hitting other children as well as frequently urinating on the bed.
Mr. Shim explained, "Even if he was only tied up for only a few minutes, I'm worried that the child received such a huge shock that he will have to go to the hospital." He continued to describe his anxious symptoms, saying, "After that incident, he skips meals and isn't able to sleep at night," suggesting that the child was traumatized as a result of the harsh discipline.
The Incheon Seobu Police Station has since interviewed the accused teacher and is currently investigating the daycare center, its director, as well as its policies.
Netizen reaction has mostly been against the teacher, with the top comments saying, "This reminds me of when I was five years old. During music class my fellow classmate got his/her hands taped together for clapping kekeke. Because he/she sang, he/she got her mouth blocked too keke. When the mom found out, the mom freaked out and the daycare center was closed keke. At that time, because I was young I didn't realize it but now that I think of it, wow, that crazy bitch keke," and, "That teacher who seems like a normal person should be scolded…. This means that the qualifications of being a teacher should be a bit higher…."
