Last time, we covered 10 of our favorite K-pop cover singing artists. This time, let's take a look at some of the K-pop dancing covers that had us completely floored. These groups (or, in some cases, individuals) have a passion for K-pop and dance that shows in their videos. They upload the covers onto their YouTube channels from all over the world, showing the extent of K-pop's following.
Tell us in the comments whether you think these dancers do justice to the original K-pop artists (covers by dance schools rather than teams excluded)!
Waveya (Korean)
Waveya is a four-member Korean dance team. In addition to covering popular K-pop dances, these girls also cover American pop dances. Owing to their explosive popularity and steady following of loyal viewers, the girls of Waveya are often invited to perform at university festivals and dance performances elsewhere.
INSPIRIT (Russian)
INSPIRIT is a cover dance team from Moscow, Russia. Their team consists of seven girls with the oldest being born in 1992 and the youngest in 1997. They've been active since 2011 and have won major awards and international recognition since then.
Dazzling (Taiwanese)
Dazzling is a co-ed Taiwanese dance team that uploaded their first cover in 2012. Check out their well-coordinated cover of AOA's "Short Hair" (and watch the group's honorary male member pop, lock, and drop-it).
Def-G (THAI)
Def-G is a female dance team from Thailand that got its start in 2011. Their cover of Girls' Generation's "I Got a Boy" has close to 2 million views, and for good reason. You see how much thought they put into making their outfits correspond as closely to the original ones worn in the MV, and their video isn't shot in one frame, but with different backdrops and edited all together.
St.319 (VIETNAMESE)
Reaching well over a couple hundred thousand views each time they release a K-pop dance cover, the dancers of St.319 have fan bases that extend beyond their native Hanoi, Vietnam. Based on numbers alone, the group is one of the leading K-pop dance cover artists on social media. The group has its own fan club, named IOWA.
Mckers (BANGKOK)
Mckers Mc Nirangul is a Bangkok native who has a lot of interest in K-pop groups, particularly B2ST, TVXQ, and SHINee. His cover of INFINITE's "Back" is impressive because he actually filmed himself dancing all seven members' parts, and then mashed them all together.
K-Tigers (KOREAN)
K-Tigers is a 16-member co-ed Korean Taekwondo demonstration team. They cover K-pop dances in their signature Taekwondo version, incorporating both dance and martial art elements. In so doing, they've gained a lot of attention and a steady following of fans who look forward to their videos.
I LOVE DANCE (American)
I LOVE DANCE was founded by MJ Choi in 2006 with the intent of creating a forum for people who love to dance. Today, I LOVE DANCE has become a community of passionate and talented dancers. Though K-pop dance covers are the group's main focus, more than 80% of its members are non-Korean, which speaks to the growing popularity of K-pop. I LOVE DANCE offers K-pop dance classes at a dance studio located in the heart of NYC.
ZaiZaiDaS (CANADIAN/living in South Korea)
ZaiZaiDaS is a Canadian who is currently living in South Korea. Though her covers are neither professionally edited nor flashy, her dancing speaks for itself. Her motions are very fluid, and at no point during the dance do you feel awkward watching her.
Black Queen (KOREAN)
Black Queen is a five-member girl dance team founded in Seoul. Sexy, confident, and sassy best define their covers. They are particularly notable for their great synchronization to the point you could think they were all one person, too!
