During his interview with '@star1', Hyun Bin revealed that he really did not intentionally shed tears on that memorable day. He actually planned for the opposite, to hold steady and not cry in front of his fans. 

He said, "My plan failed. I couldn't control my emotions. I thought to myself that even if a situation like that arises, I was determined not to let myself cry. But I unknowingly shed tears."

"Even when I was giving my first bow, while bowing my my head and looking at the floor, I was already on the verge of tears. But I held it in. But maybe because my heart was so glad to return to my original place, I unknowingly shed tears. Honestly, I had a deep longing to act again. I think my heart realized it before my head."

Since having returned from his 2 years away, the actor has been picking up various CF and endorsement deals as he decides on his next project, so hopefully we'll see him acting again soon!
