8Eight's latest single stirs up controversy

Posted by sweetrevenge1 pt Thursday, March 11, 2010

Talented vocal group 8Eight is recently becoming a hot issue for using autotune in their latest digital single Term of ValidityAvailability Period (????). After the song's release on March 8th, online message boards on various music sites such as MelOn, Mnet, etc. were continually filled with comments regarding the machine usage. Music fans criticized, "Do skilled artists like them have to use autotune? It's pitiful that even 8Eight has to pretend to be like idols. Win by your vocal skills," creating a situation where they showed distaste towards the machine usage. Meanwhile, fans fought back, "Do skilled artists only have to sing ballads? What does vocal power and machine use matter? Can only idols use machines?" Additionally, producer Bang Shi Hyuk explained, "Please concentrate on the 8Eight members' vocals, which is harmonized with an electronic sound that is different from the usual 8Eight music." I loved 8Eight from the moment they debuted because of their powerful voices, and I applaud them for trying out a new genre of music. What do you guys think about 8Eight's new single?
