Hollywood purchases a Phone... or rather the rights to a remake of the South Korean hit movie 'Phone.' Imprint Entertainment, which produced the hit movies 'Twilight' and most recently 'New Moon,' purchased the rights for the remake. Imprint Entertainment stated that they will keep the original director Ahn Byung Ki because of all people, he's the best person qualified to duplicate the original's feel and success. However, since this is a Hollywood release, Imprint Entertainment indicated that they will have American actors and actresses to play the roles. Ahn Byung Ki did state that he's most likely going to insert a Korean actor /actress into some sort of role. He also wants to keep his same production crew from the original film. Ahn Byung Ki also stated that this movie should be better than the original. Why? Because the original had a limited budget, he couldn't really do some of the things he wanted. With the remake budget reportedly being in excess of $10,000,000, Ahn Byung Ki feels he now has enough funding to do everything he intended to do from the beginning. With Korean movies doing well internationally, it seems the Korean market is a hot target for Hollywood to make remakes. Hopefully this remake will be a lot better than The Lake House (Originally Il Mare).
