We reported about the H1N1 virus hitting the production of SBS action drama, Swallow the Sun yesterday. The latest word from SBS is that the entire production has now been shut down to prevent the virus from spreading and the drama premiere will be delayed by a day. Filming for Swallow the Sun had been in progress on Jeju Island but stopped on 6th July after it was discovered that 3 staff members had contracted the H1N1 virus (Lee Wan has been cleared unlike earlier reported) and are now being quarantined over there. The entire production had gone to Las Vegas for an overseas shoot on 14th June before returning to Seoul on 2nd July. 1 of the staff member developed flu-like symptoms upon his return and was subsequently quarantined in Incheon after testing positive for H1N1. The production then left for Jeju Island on 3rd July until another 3 cases were discovered on the afternoon of 6th July. The entire production has now been shut down as they are adopting voluntary quarantine measures to break off contact with the outside world, to mimimize the spread of the H1N1 virus. According to one staff, "Although the shutdown might affect the airing of the drama, it's needed to prevent the virus from spreading any further because the affected persons had came into contact with over 80 members of the production team." The press conference scheduled for today has been cancelled while a special episode will be shown on 8th July instead, followed by episode 1 on the 9th. But because there's enough footage to go around at the present moment, the temporary shutdown should not affect the drama's broadcast schedule at all.
