Rain is going to be pretty busy...not just from appearing in documentaries on the Discovery Channel. You can catch him at your local courthouse in Los Angeles and Hawaii real soon. Rain and his company, J Tune, are being sued for canceling a 2007 concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. According to a lawsuit filed March 10th at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Andrew Kim, a concert promoter had the rights to the concert, but he took a huge financial hit when Rain canceled. Rain is also pending a suit for canceling in 2007 in Hawaii, allegedly over trademark and technical issues. Kim is seeking $30,000,000 -- plus punitive damages. The Hawaiian concert was canceled just days before a scheduled June 15, 2007 performance at the Aloha Stadium, disappointing fans who paid as much as $300 for a ticket and flew to Honolulu from as far as away as Japan and Korea. It was supposed to be the first stop on the “Rain’s Coming” American tour. Performances in San Francisco, Atlanta, and New York were also canceled. All concert goers were refunded. Rain's company said they had to call off the performances because of a copyright challenge from Nevada-based record company Rain Corp. This is where he had to change his name to 'The Rain. The case was dismissed later. Rain is expected to testify in his civil trial stemming from his canceled concert in Hawaii. A five-man, three-woman jury was selected among a pool of fifty-two. Opening arguments are scheduled to begin today. Rain is listed as a witness for both sides and will be in court next week. The trial is expected to last about two weeks. Time to break out some of that English he's been working on!
