Bae Yong Joon (Yon Sama) arrived in Japan like Dale Earnhardt Jr. at a trailer park convention, to a horde of fans. More than 6,000 desperate housewives gathered at the Osaka airport as Bae Yong Joon made his arrival on May 30th. Some of these old women were reduced to tears when they saw Bae Yong Joon. Bae Yong Joon is in Japan to attend the ‘2008 The Legend Premium Event’ at the Kyocera Dome and promote his historical drama ‘The Legend’ which airs on NHK. It is very rare for a non-japanese drama to air on NHK, but Japanese media insiders say this isn't surprising because of Bae Yong Joon's huge popularity in Japan. More than 35,000 fans gathered at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka to get a glimpse of Yon Sama. Thousands more were outside the dome just hoping they could get a slight glimpse. When the show started, Bae Yong Joon took the stage with fellow cast members / director Moon Sori, Lee Jiah, Park Sung Woong and Phillip Lee. They answered some questions from the fans, and later dressed out in character costume from the Drama. I watched Winter Sonata and it was a decent drama. But how did he get so huge from that? I don't really see the appeal of this guy, I find it a bit fascinating that Japan is so fascinated with this guy. Anyone want to explain it to me why this guy is so big in Japan?
