Shindong reacted to his own weight reveal on 'The Great Escape 2'.
On the April 14th episode of the tvN variety program, the veteran idol stepped on top of a weight scale, when all the cast members had to get their weights checked as "prisoners". When his weight was revealed, Shindong expressed utter shock as it came out to be 245 lbs (111.7 kg), with a height of 177 cm (5' 9") .
He then said to himself, "why do I weigh so much?". Soon, fellow cast member Kang Ho Dong, on the other hand, announced, "I am going to do whatever it takes to keep my own weight hidden". That plan, however, could not be followed through, as tvN ended up revealing all of their actual weights.
When the episode was aired, several netizens went online and shared how female celebrities would have been "even more criticized" if they were overweight, because of the "irrational double standard" that an idol should always look after one's physical appearance.
In other news, this all-new 'Great Escape' began its second season back in March.

I still remember that show where female idols were told to dance on a stage without knowing it was actually a big scale displaying their real weights. Their weights were then compared to their profile weights and all the girls that weighed more than their profiles were shamed. I'll never forget how uncomfortable KARA's Youngji looked for being like 10lbs over her profile. The double standard has never been realer.
