Another tragedy related to the tragic Sewol ferry sinking has occurred as a helicopter returning from a mission at the site of the accident crashed into a neighborhood in Gwangju, South Korea. A video taken from the dash cam of a vehicle nearby captured the explosion, and witnesses at the scene stated that the helicopter took a nosedive to the ground and they heard a loud crash, which resulted in a fireball and then a great mass of smoke drifting toward the sky.

This crash occurred nearby apartment complexes and a high school, injuring one female student, but killing five passengers aboard the helicopter--two pilots, two rescue workers, and one mechanic. The Sewol search helicopter was taking off after refueling at Gwangju airport when this accident occurred. Meanwhile, the cause has yet to be determined.
