According to an exclusive media outlet report on March 28 KST, lead actors IU and Byun Woo Seok have withdrawn the MBC drama '21st Century Princess Consort' (working title).
One insider claimed, "The actors and the broadcasting station failed to come to an agreement on the drama's distribution platform." It's said that MBC had begun talks to distribute the drama overseas through Disney+, and upon hearing this, the two lead actors decided to pull out, showing a preference for Netflix as the global distribution platform of choice.
Meanwhile, the story of '21st Century Princess Consort' takes place in a fictional universe where Korea is a constitutional monarchy. IU was set to play the role of Sung Hee Joo, the second daughter of the richest family in the Korean Kingdom. Opposite her, Byun Woo Seok was cast as the royal prince Yi Ahn, the next in line to the throne.
The drama's planned release date is currently unknown.
