On the morning of February 21 KST, MONSTA X member Kihyun appeared in front of fans outside the base of the 25th Infantry Division of the ROK Army, located in Yangju-si, Gyeonggi Province. 

On this day, Kihyun reported his successful discharge from his mandatory military service after a year and 6 months. He greeted fans with a bright smile, stating, "I fulfilled my given duties more diligently than anyone else for the past year and 6 months. I received several awards, and I want to assure you that I did my best to live as someone you all could be proud of. Thank you so much for waiting for me."

The idol also shared a message of encouragement to his fellow member Hyungwon, whose discharge is scheduled for May of this year, saying, "Just please take care of yourself, don't get hurt, and do your best until the end, and the day after your discharge, there's a major event awaiting us, so stay healthy and see you soon." 

Following his welcome back ceremony in front of fans, Kihyun also took to his Instagram to report his discharge to his fans all over the globe. "I've officially returned to civilian status!!!!!", he wrote, along with a series of selcas to commemorate his last day in a soldier's uniform. 

Meanwhile, MONSTA X will be celebrating their 10th anniversary later this year on May 14.
