Singer and businessman Jay Park is taking legal action against a YouTuber accused of spreading malicious false information about him. Park has filed a defamation lawsuit at the Seoul Central District Court and has also applied for a discovery procedure in a U.S. court to uncover the YouTuber’s identity.
According to the San Jose Division of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on January 9th (local time), Park requested the court’s approval for "discovery of YouTuber identity verification evidence" against Google LLC.
Lee Ji Soo, head of brand communications at More Vision—an entertainment company founded by Park in 2022—also submitted a supporting statement, emphasizing the necessity of the discovery request.
Since Google, which operates YouTube, is based in the United States, the process of verifying the YouTuber’s identity is being carried out through the U.S. legal system.
In a declaration submitted to the court, Lee stated, "Between October 17 and 31, 2024, a YouTube user named ‘Ppuring Office’ posted two YouTube Shorts and two community posts about Park on his channel, along with additional comments attacking him."
Ppuring Office is a so-called cyber-wrecker channel known for spreading malicious and false allegations, including claims that Park was involved in drug smuggling, illegal cryptocurrency transactions, and ties to Chinese triads.
The YouTuber uploaded a video alleging that "Koala," a person known to be close to singer Jessi (Korean name Ho Hyun Joo), is a member of the Chinese triads and supplies drugs to the hip-hop scene. The video attempted to establish a connection between Park and Koala by showing footage of Koala inside Park’s company, More Vision, and standing next to him.
In another video, Ppuring Office questioned Park’s integrity, stating, "What kind of sacred figure is Jay Park? Can’t we even say what we see?" The video also speculated on his alleged involvement in cryptocurrency, saying, "Jay Park and Jessi were the main Korean artists at Rolling Loud 2023 Thailand OKX Stage. OKX is a cryptocurrency exchange. Do you understand now?"—insinuating that Park was connected to illegal financial activities.
The YouTuber further made inflammatory remarks about Korean-American celebrities, saying, "A very important video about the double life of Korean-American celebrities will be uploaded soon. Get ready to be angry. Making money in Korea, having fun, and leaving when problems arise—this is the nature of Korean-American celebrities. They see Korea as a playground to make money, not a place to settle down."
Lee stated that these posts and videos had gained millions of views and thousands of comments, causing serious damage to Park’s reputation.

Park filed a defamation lawsuit against Ppuring Office at the Seoul Central District Court in early December 2024. However, since More Vision was unable to identify the YouTuber, Park submitted a discovery request to a U.S. court last month.
In the request, Park stated, "We searched publicly accessible information to identify the YouTuber but have not been able to determine their identity so far." He then formally asked the court to approve a limited discovery request against Google under Title 28, Section 1782 of the United States Code (28 U.S.C. § 1782).
Park specified that information such as the YouTuber’s name, date of birth, gender, phone number, address, login IP history, and payment details linked to the Google account were necessary for identification.
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose, has assigned the case to Judge Eumi K. Lee, who will review Park’s request for discovery.
