YG Entertainment's rookie girl group BABYMONSTER is gearing up to kick off their first world tour in 2025, with their opening shows scheduled for 2-days from January 25-26 at the KSPO Dome in Seoul.
However, the news of a rookie girl group who debuted in 2024 holding their first solo concert at the KSPO Dome - the third largest performing arena in Seoul - is raising eyebrows.
The KSPO Dome, an indoor arena with a maximum capacity of 15,000, typically seats between 8,000~10,000 attendees for large-scale music events. Considering that BABYMONSTER debuted in April of this year, many netizens raised the question of whether or not the girl group can actually fill up 8,000~10,000 seats for 2 days.
Some netizens commented,
"But BLACKPINK didn't perform at the KSPO Dome until 2018, and that was when they had a handful of hit songs?"
"I'm pretty sure they didn't sell out their fan-con?"
"I saw that they still have a bunch of tickets on the first floor. The third floor is totally blocked off."
"aespa hasn't even done KSPO Dome yet lol."
"Even if they get international fans to show up, I don't know that they can fill up 10,000 seats."
"Do they have enough songs to perform at a full solo concert?"
"It's obvious that they won't be able to fill it up, but it's just YG's tactic. They did the same thing with BP, and then paid people to go to the concert."
"They were relying on international fans, but with the martial law controversy and the impeachment trial, people won't be traveling to Korea for a while."
"This is the only thing YG knows how to do lol. Perform in huge arenas, pay people to fill up the seats, and then act like their artists are world stars kekekekeke."
"Hey YG, remember when BLACKPINK had rows of empty seats in the back during their concerts..?"
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER will also be visiting 2 stops in North America - Newark, New Jersey, and Los Angeles, California - in 2025 for their upcoming 1st world tour, 'Hello Monsters'.
