The highly acclaimed Disney+ superhero action series 'Moving' will soon be broadcast on MBC.
Originally released on Disney+ in the summer of 2023, 'Moving' (written by Kang Full, and directed by Park In Je and Park Yoon Seo) became a global hit, captivating audiences in both South Korea and abroad.
MBC has finalized the broadcast schedule for 'Moving.' The first two episodes will air on December 22 at 10 PM KST, followed by episodes 3 to 5 on December 23 at 10 PM KST, and episodes 6 to 8 on December 24 at 10:20 PM KST. This release format allows viewers to enjoy the blockbuster-level series from the comfort of their homes.
A notable point in MBC's programming decision is the 19+ rating for the entire series. The network explained that this decision was made to fully convey the charm of the original characters and the depth of the world-building, which includes intense action scenes featuring superpowered individuals.
'Moving' follows the story of children hiding their supernatural abilities and parents with secrets from their past, all of whom come together to face a multigenerational threat. Based on the webtoon of the same name by Kang Full, the series was produced with a staggering budget of 65 billion KRW (approximately 45 million USD).
When it was first released on Disney+, 'Moving' broke viewership records for an original Korean series on the platform. Its gripping storyline, well-executed action scenes, and high production quality earned critical acclaim. The series topped the OTT comprehensive buzz rankings and also contributed significantly to Disney+'s growth, driving an estimated 140,000 new subscribers — surpassing the performance of previous hit series 'Big Bet' Seasons 1 and 2.
The MBC broadcast of 'Moving' is being viewed as a noteworthy example of collaboration between a global OTT platform and a local terrestrial broadcaster. The series’ success has been seen as proof of the growing influence and quality of Korean dramas. The compelling storylines, action-packed sequences, and the backstories of key characters from the National Intelligence Service (NIS) trio have been widely praised.
The show's cast also drew significant attention. With a star-studded lineup including Ryu Seung Ryong, Han Hyo Joo, Jo In Sung, Cha Tae Hyun, Ryu Seung Bum, and Kim Sung Kyun, the actors were lauded for their deep immersion in their roles.
Notably, Go Yoon Jung received praise for naturally portraying a high school student despite being in her late 20s. Ryu Seung Bum, making a return to dramas after 10 years, impressed audiences with his portrayal of a mentally exhausted killer, earning rave reviews for his vivid and intense performance.
MBC will air 'Moving' starting on December 22, releasing eight episodes over three consecutive days. From January 2025, the series will air regularly on Sundays, with two episodes broadcast each week. Viewers are eagerly anticipating whether 'Moving,' which was a major success on OTT platforms, will once again capture the attention of TV audiences.
