Singer Kim Heung Gook shares thoughts on President Yoon Suk Yeol’s martial law declaration and impeachment proceedings.
A video uploaded to Kim Heung Gook’s YouTube channel, Kim Heung Gook Deuridae TV, has garnered attention for comments regarding the recent impeachment discussions and martial law declaration.
On December 5 KST, the day after martial law was lifted, a netizen asked, “Mr. Kim Heung Gook, what do you think about martial law?” Kim replied, “Only Yongsan knows.”
In response to other comments, Kim wrote, “I’m just an entertainer. I simply want the country to do well. I love Korea.” When asked, “What do you think about the recent emergency martial law?” or “Can you share your thoughts on the current national situation?” he answered with “silence” and “Justice always wins. Victory!”
However, when confronted with a question about the Marine Corps’ rumored declaration calling for the president’s resignation, Kim sharply responded, “Mind your own business.”
Kim Heung Gook has long identified himself as a “conservative-right entertainer,” openly expressing his political stance. During the April 10 general elections this year, he actively supported People’s Power Party candidates and received an appreciation plaque in June for his contributions.
At the time, Kim remarked, “Left-wing entertainers are able to resume their careers after elections, but right-wing entertainers still face challenges returning to the spotlight. There are many conservative-right entertainers across the nation who remain hidden. If you could provide a platform where they can comfortably come forward for the sake of Korea and the People’s Power Party, I would be truly grateful.”
In August, Kim produced the documentary film “When the Magnolia Blooms Again,” which depicts the lives of former President Park Chung Hee and his wife, Yuk Young Soo, in honor of the latter’s memorial day. The screening was attended by Hwang Woo Yeo, interim chairman of the People’s Power Party, while party leader Han Dong Hoon and lawmaker Na Kyung Won delivered congratulatory speeches.
