Actor Cha In Pyo calls for a “just and fair democracy” in the aftermath of the martial law turmoil.
Cha In Pyo shared his thoughts on the chaotic societal atmosphere following the recent martial law declaration and retraction. On December 9th KST, he took to his personal social media to post a photo of himself and his wife, Shin Ae Ra, serving as guest lecturers at a middle school.
In the accompanying caption, Cha wrote, “I brought back the sparkling eyes of the children who focused despite what must have been a boring lecture and their book reports, which left an impression on my heart. I also brought home the stack of questions written by the entire student body as a keepsake.”
He continued, “Literature transcends age and location, connecting people to one another. Meeting the children’s eyes reminded me of the responsibilities we carry as adults.”
Cha expressed his hopes for the future, saying, “May we pass through this time of pain and confusion to leave behind a just and fair democracy for the next generation. May love and empathy, not violence and hatred, heal all of us who have been wounded.”
He concluded, “I hope for a Korea where wise leaders and mature citizens work together in harmony. We will rise again, like the sprouts of spring.”
