The entertainment world is abuzz with the news of 'GD and Friends' (tentative title), a new variety show featuring top star G-Dragon (GD, Kwon Ji Yong) and helmed by celebrated producer Kim Tae Ho. Known as a 'Midas touch' in the variety show realm, Kim Tae Ho's reunion with G-Dragon has sparked significant anticipation.

The program is currently in production, with plans to launch next year. While specific details remain under wraps, Kim Tae Ho hinted that more information could be unveiled as early as next week. In a statement to the media, Kim Tae Ho said, "The title is not finalized, and we are still working on some aspects of the setup. Once things are more certain, we will share comprehensive details to avoid confusion." He added, "We need time to ensure everything aligns with the overall concept."

This project marks the first collaboration between Kim Tae Ho and G-Dragon since GD’s memorable appearances on Infinite Challenge, the iconic MBC variety show previously directed by Kim. 

Fans still recall the electrifying synergy between G-Dragon and the show's cast, particularly during the '2013 Infinite Challenge Music Festival', where GD and Jung Hyung Don’s unique chemistry stole the spotlight.

The upcoming program is set to bring back familiar faces and close friends of G-Dragon, with rumors of appearances by BIGBANG members Taeyang and Daesung. 

The duo recently showcased their camaraderie by supporting GD during his performance at the '2024 MAMA Awards' in Osaka. Kim Tae Ho even filmed behind-the-scenes footage of their rehearsals, though he stated, "The clips might or might not be included in the final program, depending on the overall composition."

'GD and Friends' is the latest work by Kim Tae Ho PD under production company THEO. The show is expected to feature a short-run format with G-Dragon at its center, joined by his close celebrity friends. Previously, Jung Hyung Don and Jo Se Ho were confirmed to appear.

In addition to Jung Hae In, Im Si Wan has now been added to the lineup of 'GD and Friends.' Im Si Wan and Jung Hae In are known to be close friends, and now, with G-Dragon joining them, fans are excited to see the chemistry between these three stars, all born in 1988.

'I, the Executioner' actor Hwang Jung Min has also joined the cast, further heightening expectations for the show. GD and Friends will feature a condensed episode format, focusing on G-Dragon's interactions with his closest industry peers.

The program is set to air on MBC, marking Kim Tae Ho’s return to the network three years after his departure. Industry insiders have already labeled the collaboration a groundbreaking reunion between the network, G-Dragon, and Kim Tae Ho. Filming for the first episodes has reportedly been completed, setting the stage for what many expect to be a game-changing production in the variety show landscape.
