NewJeans Official Statement:
Hello, this is Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.
As of November 29th, 2024, we have terminated our exclusive contract with ADOR and will continue our activities independently, free from ADOR and HYBE.
ADOR, as our agency, has a duty to manage us sincerely in our best interests. On November 13th, 2024, we issued a final request for ADOR to address their contractual violations. Despite the 14-day rectification period, ADOR refused to comply, and none of the requested issues were resolved.
Over the past few months, we have made multiple requests to ADOR for rectification. However, ADOR consistently avoided and made excuses. We want to make it clear that genuine communication and mutual respect were hindered entirely by ADOR.
We outlined specific actions for ADOR to take in our requests for rectification. However, ADOR failed to take any action during business hours, and it became physically impossible for them to meet the demands within the remaining rectification period. This is why we urgently held a press conference yesterday, and ADOR’s claim that we did not wait for their response is mere wordplay.
We hereby notify ADOR of the termination of our exclusive contract due to their breach of contractual obligations and failure to rectify within the designated period. This termination notice complies with the terms of our exclusive contract, and all five of us have signed the document personally. The notice became effective immediately upon its delivery to ADOR on November 29th, 2024. Therefore, as of this date, the exclusive contract is no longer valid, and there is no need for us to file for an injunction. We are free to conduct our activities starting November 29th, 2024.
Additionally, as artists under ADOR, we have faithfully fulfilled our contractual obligations. The termination of the contract is solely due to ADOR’s violations, and as such, we are not liable for any penalties or compensation.
We do not wish for anyone to suffer harm due to the termination of our exclusive contract. We will continue to honor all obligations under agreements made between ADOR and other parties before the termination date.
Our decision comes after extensive deliberation. We can no longer remain at ADOR, a company that fails to fulfill its basic duty of protecting its artists. Maintaining the contract would only cause us severe mental distress. Thus, we reached the conclusion that leaving ADOR was our only option. Moreover, we have been deeply hurt and shocked by numerous false media reports. We sincerely hope that such situations will not arise after the termination of our contract.
We will continue to do our best to deliver good music to our fans. We ask for your continued support and encouragement for our future endeavors. Thank you.
