Actor Lee Seung Gi has once again addressed the controversy surrounding his in-laws.
On the morning of November 12 KST, at the production briefing for the film ‘About Family’ held at Lotte Cinema Konkuk University in Seoul’s Gwangjin District, Lee commented, “As it’s been a while since my last movie release, I’m cautious about discussing personal matters.”
Lee Seung Gi married actress Lee Da In, daughter of actress Kyeon Mi Ri, in 2023. In June, controversy arose when the not-guilty ruling of Kyeon Mi Ri’s husband, who was charged with stock manipulation, was overturned. Lee responded through his agency, saying, “Please leave my family out of this.”
Lee clarified, “As senior actor Kim Yoon Seok mentioned, I’m careful about bringing up personal matters with ‘About Family’ movie coming out after a long time. However, there seems to be a misunderstanding. My wife’s family’s matters are separate. Since our marriage, my wife and I have established our own independent household. I don’t think it’s appropriate to further address this issue. If my comments caused any misunderstandings, I’ll act with more caution going forward.”
‘About Family’ is a family comedy directed by Yang Woo Seok, known for ‘The Attorney’ and ‘Steel Rain’. It tells the story of the head of Pyungman-ok, a famous dumpling restaurant owner who is unexpectedly visited by adorable grandchildren, leading to an unforeseen cohabitation. The film is set to be released on December 11 KST.
