The 2024 MAMA Awards, held on November 22-23 across Los Angeles and Osaka, celebrated some of the biggest names in K-pop, with SEVENTEEN, Aespa, and BTS’s Jimin taking home the prestigious grand prizes.

SEVENTEEN continued their winning streak by securing two grand prize awards this year—' Artist of the Year and Album of the Year’. The group was visibly emotional during their acceptance speeches.

Woozi expressed his disbelief, saying, “They say imagination is free, but winning the grand prize two years in a row was something we couldn’t even dream of. We promise to stay grounded and repay your support until the very end.”

Hoshi added, “Last year’s grand prize felt like a message to never give up. This year’s feels like an encouragement to keep moving forward as SEVENTEEN.”

In addition to their grand prizes, SEVENTEEN also won ‘Best Male Group, VISA Super Stage Award, and Fans’ Choice Top 10 – Male, bringing their total to five awards.

Aespa claimed their first-ever grand prize, winning Song of the Year for ‘Supernova’. They also swept five other awards, including Best Female Group, Best Dance Performance – Female Group, Best Choreography, Best Music Video, and Fans’ Choice Top 10 – Female.

In their acceptance speech for Song of the Year, Aespa shared, “We never imagined this. We’re so thankful and honored that Supernova received so much love. We’ll continue to work hard and bring you even better music in the future.”

Reflecting on their journey, they added, “It’s been three years since we last attended MAMA. Back then, it was during the pandemic, and we couldn’t share this moment with fans. Being here with you in this big dome makes this win even more special.”

BTS’s Jimin won the Fans’ Choice grand prize but was unable to attend due to his ongoing military service. Fans celebrated his achievement as a testament to his enduring popularity and impact.

G-Dragon made a highly anticipated return to the MAMA stage, winning the Music Visionary Award. Reflecting on his career, he said, “It’s been 17 years since I first performed at MAMA. Today feels like a meaningful milestone, both personally and as part of my group. I’m grateful to Mnet and everyone who’s supported me throughout this journey.”

He also thanked his fans, VIPs, saying, “To the yellow lights out there, you made this possible. I don’t know if this is the kind of award you can only win once, but I’ll be aiming for it again next year. Thank you.”

Actor Byun Woo Seok, who gained acclaim for his role in tvN’s ‘Lovely Runner’, received the 'Favorite Global Trending Music award'. He also performed as part of his fictional band, Eclipse.

Byun expressed gratitude, saying, “As an actor, I’m honored to have been able to sing such great music thanks to the team behind ‘Lovely Runner’. Thank you to the fans who supported our drama and its soundtrack.” He concluded with a heartfelt message to his fandom, Mailbox, saying, “We won this award together. Thank you, and I love you.”

The 2024 MAMA Awards celebrated the best in music and entertainment, bringing together icons, rising stars, and dedicated fans for an unforgettable evening. With SEVENTEEN, Aespa, Jimin, and G-Dragon taking center stage, the event once again cemented MAMA’s status as a premier celebration of K-pop’s global influence.
