Soobin of the group TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) has suspended activities due to health reasons, sparking criticism from fans toward their agency, HYBE.
On November 19th KST, HYBE announced through its subsidiary platform Weverse: “Soobin showed symptoms of poor health and visited a hospital, where doctors recommended rest. Prioritizing the artist’s health, we discussed his future activities with Soobin and the other members and decided he will take a break for the time being.”
As a result, Soobin will not participate in scheduled events such as the MAMA Awards, Japan’s offline fan events, the encore concert Act: Sweet Mirage Encore in Japan, and the Shanghai fan signing event.
Fans, however, expressed frustration and blamed the agency for overworking idols. They commented: “At this point, the entire group needs rest,” “Having over 10 schedules a day—it’s odd if they don’t burn out,” and “There have been warning signs like high fever, indigestion, and nosebleeds, yet the agency failed to provide adequate care.”
This criticism stems not only from Soobin’s recent health issues but also from those experienced by other members of TXT.
For example, Huening Kai left a concert mid-performance two weeks ago due to indigestion, Yeonjun prepared for year-end music shows last year while receiving IV treatment, and Beomgyu missed performances during their world tour due to health concerns, even stepping out of an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.
Additionally, health-related activity suspensions by other HYBE artists, including NewJeans’ Hyein, LE SSERAFIM’s Eunchae, ILLIT’s Wonhee, fromis_9’s Baek Jiheon, &TEAM’s Harua, and TWS’s Jihoon, have resurfaced, amplifying the criticism against the agency.
Fans of other agencies joined in the criticism, stating: “If the company prioritized the artists’ health, this wouldn’t happen,” “Do they only see their artists as money-making machines?” and “Scheduling without checking their physical conditions is the root of the problem.”
