Actress Go Min Si spreads warmth with charitable donation
International development NGO G-Foundation announced on November 20th KST that actress Go Min Si donated 50 million KRW(approximately 36,000 USD) to support elderly people living alone and other vulnerable groups during the winter.
The donation will be used to support living expenses, medical needs, and housing for elderly individuals living alone, providing stability in their daily lives. It will also help cover rent, utility bills, and heating costs for seniors and aid other vulnerable groups in need this winter.
Go Min Si has consistently engaged in charitable activities through G-Foundation. In 2020, she supported single-parent households, and in 2023, she donated 30 million KRW to benefit children, teenagers, and single-parent families in celebration of Family Month.
Through her ongoing donations to domestic vulnerable groups, Go Min Si continues to bring warmth and encouragement to those in need, particularly the elderly living alone and winter-affected populations. Her heartfelt gesture aims to spread awareness and inspire more acts of kindness towards those requiring social care during the harsh winter months.
Go Min Si shared, “I hope this donation will be used effectively to support elderly people living alone and other winter-vulnerable groups. As the weather gets colder, I hope my contribution can help seniors have a warmer winter. I believe that our society’s attention and solidarity can bring significant changes to someone’s everyday life, which motivated me to make this donation.”
G-Foundation’s President Park Chung Kwan highlighted the importance of this gesture, stating, “South Korea has the highest elderly poverty rate among OECD countries, with over half of those aged 80 and above living in poverty. Winter is especially harsh for the elderly who face difficulties with living expenses, health, and housing. Actress Go Min Si’s donation is not just financial support but also a meaningful act that raises awareness of these structural issues in our society. We will do our best to deliver her warmth and sincerity effectively.”
