Actor Byun Woo Seok has taken home the Favorite Global Trending Music award at the 2024 MAMA Awards.

The second chapter of the 2024 MAMA Awards Japan was held on November 23 at Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. During the event, Byun Woo Seok, known for his recent role in the hit tvN drama ‘Lovely Runner’, expressed his gratitude after receiving the award.

"I am truly thankful to the ‘Lovely Runner’ team for helping me deliver a great song despite being an actor," said Byun. He also thanked his fans, hair and makeup team, and others who supported him. Addressing his fandom, ‘Mailbox’ (the fandom's name), he added, "Thank you, and I love you."

Byun also shouted to his fellow actors from the drama’s fictional band Eclipse, saying, "In Hyuk, Hyun Soo, Jae—our team won an award! This has been Eclipse."

Byun Woo Seok played the role of Ryu Seon Jae, a band member in the drama, which aired earlier this year. His solo song from the drama, 'Shower', dominated domestic and international music charts, cementing his popularity. The show’s unprecedented success has also landed Byun endorsement deals with 19 major brands, including luxury names, with estimated advertising revenue surpassing 10 billion won (approximately $7.3 million USD).

The 2024 MAMA Awards began on November 22 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and concluded in Japan over two days, divided into two chapters. The star-studded lineup included performances and appearances by G-Dragon, SEVENTEEN, (G)I-DLE, ZEROBASEONE, aespa, BIBI, MEOVV, INI, and more.
