Jessi linked to fan assault case as music producer Koala identified as one of the assailants.
On October 18th KST, it was revealed that Koala, a producer and rapper, was present during the fan assault incident involving Jessi. Koala allegedly shoved the fan in the stomach and threatened them by getting close to their face. Koala has been involved in the production of several of Jessi’s albums, including “What Type of X”, “Cold Blooded”, and “NUNU NANA”. He has also mentioned that he is not only a professional colleague but also a friend who supports Jessi. Koala is currently appearing in the TV show ‘Rap Republic’ on TVING.
On October 16th KST, Jessi appeared at the Gangnam Police Station and stated that she hopes the person responsible for the assault on her fan will be found and punished. However, when asked if she had met the assailant before the incident, Jessi responded, “It was the first time I saw him.”
According to the police, the incident occurred in the early morning of September 29th in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam District. A minor had asked Jessi for a photo, but one of her male companions assaulted the fan. Jessi reportedly tried to intervene and stop the assault but then left the scene. Police later arrived and questioned Jessi’s group, but they reportedly claimed not to know the assailant.
Jessi’s representatives have stated that the assailant was “a Chinese person” and that neither Jessi nor her close producer were involved in the incident, clarifying that the assailant was a friend of the producer. Jessi, Koala, and two others have been named in a complaint filed by the victim, with Jessi also being accused of aiding and abetting the assailant’s escape. Koala was questioned on October 11th as a suspect in the case.
