Jaejoong personally introduced the house he built for his parents, which he calls the "Ultimate Filial House."
On the September 6 broadcast of KBS 2TV's 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant,' Jaejoong visited his parents' home. Being the youngest of nine siblings, he arrived carrying bags of groceries, warmly welcomed by his parents. His mother expressed how much she had missed him, even saying, "My eyes were sore from missing you so much." Jaejoong reciprocated her affection with playful charm.
The show revealed Jaejoong’s family home for the first time, a house that he built from start to finish. He shared that while the process was challenging, it was his dream to provide his parents with a large and beautiful home once he achieved financial stability.
The spacious and grand house resembled the house in the movie 'Parasite.' It featured a main bedroom and kitchen on the first floor, a sauna and terrace on the second floor, and a guest room on the third.
As you enter the living room from the entrance, a full-length window offering a stunning view of the garden immediately catches the eye. Jaejoong mentioned, "I had dozens of meetings with the interior designer." The home is equipped with a well-designed main kitchen and a secondary kitchen for convenience, as well as a backyard perfect for hosting barbecue parties.
One unique feature of the living room is its stone wall. Jaejoong explained, "Do you know what older people like the most?"
The house even includes an elevator. Kim added, "My parents have mobility issues, so the elevator was necessary. They’re usually frugal with the air conditioning bill but don’t hesitate to use the elevator," he said with a smile.
Jaejoong revealed further thoughtful details, such as a slightly lower kitchen countertop designed for his shorter mother, and emergency bells installed on every floor to ensure his elderly parents' safety.
For his mother, he brought apple mangoes, saying, "If I don't bring apple mangoes, she gets upset. Once I brought regular mangoes, and she said, 'They're not apple mangoes!'" For his father, he gifted premium-grade beef (Korean Hanwoo).
During the visit, his parents jokingly asked, "When are you getting married? Didn’t you say you would marry by the time you're 40?" but quickly reassured him, "Don't feel pressured," with his mother light-heartedly adding, "This is how we are in Chungcheong."
Jaejoong shared, "The solution is giving cash as allowance. A bank transfer won't do; it has to be in cash." He jokingly added, "When I give my father money, he says, 'Earning money isn’t everything,' but soon follows it up with, 'But it’s nice!'"
Taking the elevator up, they reached a 'Kim Jaejoong Memorial Room,' filled with numerous awards and gifts from fans. His private bedroom was also located on the upper floor. As he reminisced over old photo albums from his childhood, Jaejoong commented, "There are only women's clothes in the photos because I had to wear hand-me-downs from my older sisters."
He also looked through his elementary school graduation album, smiling fondly at his round and cute younger self.
Past the terrace, a spacious bath area could be seen, complete with a large tub and a sauna emitting the scent of cypress wood. His father enjoyed a private sauna experience, which Jaejoong mentioned was as good as any Finnish sauna. Jaejoong explained, "Since my father is older now, it's difficult for him to go out."
Jaejoong even cleaned the spots around the house himself. His father commented, "I dislike dirt, but every year my body feels different. Still, I meet up with friends these days."
Reflecting on his father’s health, Jaejoong said, "Considering everything, my father is in good health. He had a couple of serious health scares where he nearly passed away, especially after a lung cancer diagnosis. If he hadn’t been able to go to the hospital, it could have been much worse." The sudden diagnosis of his father's lung cancer had been a devastating blow to the entire family.
Jaejoong shared a touching moment about his father's health scare and how he and his siblings had feared the worst. He recounted a conversation with his sisters, saying, "We still talk about how we thought he had passed away." His father explained that during a routine health check, he was diagnosed with lung cancer, which led to an urgent need for surgery. Jaejoong quickly searched for a hospital where his father could undergo the operation as soon as possible. Thanks to Jaejoong's efforts, his father was able to have the surgery promptly.
His father expressed gratitude, saying, "Because of Jaejoong, I was able to get the surgery quickly. The doctors recently told me that I’ve made a full recovery. It’s all thanks to him that I'm healthy again." Jaejoong, reflecting on the situation, shared, "Every time I see my parents, they say, 'If it weren't for you, we wouldn't be here now.' It took a lot of time and money for their treatment, including major surgeries. I always tell them not to say things like that, but honestly, hearing that I helped them stay healthy is what makes me feel proud."
Jaejoong also spoke about the decision to move his parents to a new, greener town, believing it would improve their health and quality of life. He added, "Since moving here, my parents, especially my father, seem much healthier." Overwhelmed with emotion, Jaejoong shared how he began holding his father's hand only recently, in his late 30s.
