On the August 11 episode of her Youtube show ‘UMAIZING DATE’, Uhm Jung Hwa met with actress Kim Min Ha, the star of Apple TV’s series ‘Pachinko’.
When asked about how she got casted for ‘Pachinko’, Kim Min Ha explains that it was sort of a magical occurrence. Since she began pursuing acting, unattached to an agency, she continuously took on roles in plays and indie projects and went on countless auditions almost daily without much success. But thanks to her prolific auditioning, she was able to make a good impression on one of the casting directors she had met with, even though she failed to secure the role. Said casting director recommended her to Pachinko’s casting director, which inaugurated the start of her path of success.
On why she has been cautious about taking on her next projects, she divulges that despite the success and receiving nothing but compliments since ‘Pachinko’ was aired, she simultaneously felt wary of losing herself by getting carried away with the fame. As she greatly values ‘Pachinko’ and the role of Sunja, she hopes she would not lose her bearing as an actor and fail to deliver in the role. However, she also states that since ‘Pachinko’, she has received endless project offers, with scripts stacked up at home.
Season 2 of ‘Pachinko’ is set to premiere on August 23, 2024.
