Actress Go Jun Hee is set to make her theater debut in 'Angels in America'.
On June 19, her agency Inure Entertainment revealed, "Go Jun Hee has been confirmed to appear as Harper Pitt in the play 'Angels in America', and she's putting effort into rehearsals to deliver sincere acting to the audience."
'Angels in America' depicts the chaos and fear at the end of the century with a narrative intertwining reality and fantasy. Written by Tony Kushner, it garnered numerous awards including the Pulitzer Prize, Tony Awards, and Drama Desk Awards after its Broadway debut in 1993. Go Jun Hee will be the wife of Joe Pitt, Harper Pitt, who is addicted to drugs and creates imaginary characters in the swamp of marital failure to evade her own problems.
Go Jun Hee expressed, "I have had a strong desire to act on stage and have been quenching that thirst by encountering good works and characters in the practice room, feeling alive day by day." She added, "As this is my first theater challenge, I needed great courage, but I trust Director Shin Yoo-chang, who has been recognized for his artistic achievement with various theater awards including the Baeksang Arts Awards, and my wonderful senior and junior colleagues. I am excited and deeply moved above all else. I will do my best to practice happily and earnestly, and look forward to meeting the audience through performances."
'Angels in America' will run from August 6 to September 28 KST at the LG Arts Center Seoul, LG SIGNATURE Hall.
