On April 10, The New York Times reported that NewJeans' label ADOR is seeking help from a California federal court for a defamation lawsuit against YouTuber @Middle7.
It was reported that ADOR requested a California federal court to order Google, the parent company of YouTube, to reveal the identity of the anonymous YouTuber. This YouTuber has been making defamatory and mocking videos about NewJeans and has been gaining considerable views and attention online.
Following the news and making various headlines, @Middle7 responded with a rather sarcastic video. On April 11, @Middle7 posted a video titled, "Middle7's apology after being sued by NewJeans." In the video, the YouTuber explains, "So NewJeans' label sued me... I woke up and what's going on? But what's a relief is that I didn't apply for revenue generation. lol. But I'm still human so I'm scared and nervous. At first, I wasn't interested in idols at all but I've come this far after posting videos for fun. Sigh... I didn't want to get this famous... I'll omit the apology since Minji already wrote one..." In the comment section of the video, Middle7 pinned their comment, "So scared ㅠㅠ" in a sarcastic tone.
Korean netizens criticized the YouTuber and commented, "This b****d is going to cry their eyes and nose out once they get doxxed," "These types of people need to disappear. Is this something they should be happy about? Do they not get the situation..? lol," "Usually, people like you like to talk big right until they go to the police station. Shall I say, you're the type that likes to talk big because deleting everything and running away would hurt your pride? You'll end up being ruined when you talk big like this just because a few people are supporting you. I've been in these online communities and idol galleries for four years and your end is obvious. lol," "Is this a real apology?" "It's just like how Sojang denied that the information online waws not her but she began trembling in fear after she was completely doxxed," and "I hope you get sued fully."
The risk that this person gets doxxed is far higher than that the court gives permission to uncover their identity the legal way.
