Yoon Young Dal, the chairman of CROWN HAITAI Holdings, talked about BIBI's hit song "Bam Yang Gang" and expressed excitement about the impact the song had on business.
On March 12, Chairman Yoon Young Dal shared, "I'm very happy and excited these days," during a press conference for his inauguration as the new head of the Korea Mecenat Association. He continued to explain, "We've increased the production capacity for Bam Yang Gang (chestnut jelly bar). We're greatly reaping the benefits of the song's popularity." He added while smiling, "The power of culture and arts is truly remarkable."
Meanwhile, "Bam Yang Gang" is a song released by BIBI, written and produced with Jang Ki Ha. The song garnered much attention and gained popularity when it was released. Released in February, the song tells the story of a breakup, and BIBI sings the song from the position of a woman who was never fully understood by her boyfriend. In the song, she sings that she simply wanted "Bam Yang Gang," which is a sweet chestnut jelly bar, alluding that she just wanted simple comfort from their relationship and nothing highly demanding as the man thought.
After the song became a hit, becoming just the second song of 2024 to achieve a PAK (Perfect All Kill), the sales of the associated product - Bam Yang Gang - increased. It was reported that the sales of the Bam Yang Gang in major convenience stores in South Korea increased by approximately 40% compared to the previous month.
Korean netizens commented, "The chairman should do something for BIBI," "lol, I wanted Bam Yang Gang too when I heard the song," "He basically got free advertisement," "They should use BIBI as their model," "I don't usually eat Yang Gang but the song made me buy one at the convenience store, lol," "I work at the convenience store and someone asked me if we had Yang Gang and I naturally said, 'oh the Bam Yang Gang?' and we both laughed," "Wow," and "I guess young people now enjoy the Yang Gang thanks to the song."
i've been hearing bam yang gang all through my social media, didn't even know it meant chestnut jelly bars. But now I'm curious to try this snack. No wonder their sales went up.
