Exclusive information from Variety reveals that the upcoming Amazon Prime series 'Butterfly,' headlined by Daniel Dae Kim, is bolstering its cast with noteworthy recurring guest stars.
The additions include Park Hae Soo and Kim Tae Hee, who are set to join the espionage thriller inspired by the BOOM! Studios graphic novel of the same name. Crafted by Arash Amel, with co-writing by Marguerite Bennett, and illustrations by Antonio Fuso and Stefano Simeone, the series has already garnered attention with a six-episode order from Prime Video after being greenlit in May 2023.
The narrative centers around David Jung (played by Daniel Dae Kim), a mysterious and highly unpredictable former US intelligence operative residing in South Korea. His life takes a tumultuous turn when the repercussions of a seemingly impossible decision from his past resurface, leading him to be pursued by Rebecca (played by Reina Hardesty), a lethal and sociopathic young agent tasked with eliminating him.
Park Hae Soo, acclaimed internationally for his role as Sang Woo in the immensely popular Netflix series 'Squid Game,' brings his talents to this new venture. His performance in 'Squid Game' earned him an Emmy nomination for best supporting actor in a drama. He is also recognized for his contributions to projects like 'Prison Playbook,' 'Chimera,' 'Money Heist: Korea,' and 'Ruthless Operation.'
Kim Tae Hee, initially making a name for herself as a model, gained prominence through her role in the South Korean TV series 'Stairway to Heaven.' Her career further blossomed with appearances in shows such as 'Forbidden Love' and 'Love Story in Harvard,' along with notable dramas like 'IRIS' and 'Lies Hidden In My Garden.'
