Kim Hye-soo has begun filming for Disney+'s new drama, tentatively titled 'Trigger.'
According to a report by Maeil Business Star Today on January 31, Kim Hye-soo recently started shooting for the Disney+ drama. This marks her second appearance in an OTT (Over-The-Top) streaming service drama, following her role in the 2022 Netflix original 'Juvenile Justice.'
As the OTT platforms like Netflix, Disney+, Coupang Play, TVING, and WAVVE continue to release a plethora of original content, top star Kim Hye-soo is set to engage with global audiences through her work in OTT productions.
'Trigger' is an office comedy-drama centered around an investigative reporting team at a broadcasting station. The story revolves around a justice-driven team leader and a fiercely individualistic producer as they work to uncover the truths behind mysterious cases and save their program from cancellation. Kim Hye-soo will play the role of the investigative reporting team leader.
Directed by Yoo Sun-dong, who previously worked on the tvN drama series 'The Uncanny Counter,' 'Trigger' has been highly anticipated due to rumors of Kim Hye-soo's involvement. After much consideration, she has confirmed her participation. Following her performances in the tvN drama 'Shuroop' (2022) and the movie 'The Smuggling' (2023), Kim Hye-soo is expected to showcase her unique presence in the OTT market in 2024.
After stepping down from her 30-year stint as the host of the Blue Dragon Film Awards, Kim Hye-soo is fully dedicating herself to her acting career, aiming to claim the throne as the queen of OTT content.
With a drama of the same name already released on Netflix, a title change for this series seems inevitable. 'Trigger' is planned as a 12-episode series and is expected to be released in the latter half of the year.
