On January 15th, OSEN reported that Ji Suk Jin will be attending the recording of SBS's 'Running Man' this morning, marking his comeback after just five weeks. Ji Suk Jin's return episode is set to air on the 28th.
Previously, Ji Suk Jin announced a hiatus from activities through his agency Esteem Entertainment on December 18th last year. The agency stated, "Recently, Ji Suk Jin underwent a health check-up and decided to take a break from 'Running Man' to focus on treatment as per medical advice."
The agency continued, "He will take a short rest period to rebuild his strength and return healthier as soon as possible. We thank everyone for their constant support and love for Ji Suk Jin." Ji Suk Jin, who needed a break for health reasons, also missed the '2023 SBS Entertainment Awards' held on December 30th last year.
During his break, Ji Suk Jin focused on recovering quickly, encouraged by fans' concerns and colleagues' support, and decided to return to shooting just a month after announcing his hiatus. Broadcast insiders initially expected him to return in February, but Ji Suk Jin was determined to make an earlier comeback.
The production team also welcomed Ji Suk Jin's swift return. Producer Choi Hyeong-in hinted at the possibility of an earlier than expected return at the year-end award ceremony, saying, "I want to spread a rumor. First, 'Running Man' is entering its 15th year. It has been the top OTT show for four consecutive years. Secondly, Ji Suk Jin might return sooner than we think."
With Ji Suk Jin's return, today's (15th) shooting of 'Running Man' will feature a special race in the show's unique style. Alongside Ji Suk Jin's swift comeback, the 'Running Man' production team is pouring their passion into delivering laughter and fun for their 15th anniversary.
Meanwhile, SBS's 'Running Man' won the 'Program of the Year' award voted by viewers at last year's entertainment awards, and Ji Suk Jin received a producer's award.
