Thanks to their remarkable popularity in Japan, NewJeans is set to grace major award ceremonies and broadcasts as the year draws to a close.
On December 30, NewJeans the group is scheduled to make an appearance at the prestigious Japan Record Awards. At this esteemed awards ceremony, NewJeans will take the stage to perform not one but three songs: the b-side track "Ditto" from their single album 'OMG,' "ETA," one of the triple title songs from their second EP, and another b-side track.
The Japan Record Awards, hosted by the Japan Composers Association, is one of the most traditional and authoritative music awards ceremonies in Japan, with its inception dating back to 1959. NewJeans has received recognition in the form of the 'Excellent Work Award' and the 'Special Award' at this prestigious event.
The 'Excellent Work Award' is granted to ten songs released in a given year that have gained immense popularity among the public. Notably, "Ditto" is the first foreign song to ever receive this accolade and secure a nomination for the grand prize, making it a remarkable achievement even before the group's official debut in Japan.
NewJeans is also set to grace the stage of NTV's 'Annual Music Awards 2023,' a representative year-end music broadcast program that highlights the year's most popular songs based on major music chart performances. After making a lasting impression with their debut song "Attention" last year, the group is invited back for the second consecutive year.
'Annual Music Awards 2023' will be broadcast on NTV at 7 PM on December 27, while the 'Japan Record Awards' can be enjoyed on TBS at 5:30 PM on December 30.
New Jeans now rules the world.
