Actor Choi Hyun Wook has been fined for illegally disposing a cigarette butt.

Last week, Choi Hyun Wook faced controversy for littering with his cigarette butt and for smoking in a non-designated area, both illegal in South Korea. He later posted a public apology soon after the controversy, and on October 12, the Gangnam District Office revealed Choi Hyun Wook had been found guilty of violating 'Article 8 Paragraph 1 of the Waste Management Act.

After footage of Choi Hyun Wook tossing the cigarette butt went viral, the case was filed as a civil suit to the Gangnam District Office, and following an investigation, the actor was given a fine of 50,000 Won ($37.22 USD) for the illegal disposal of cigarette butts, tissue, and other waste.

His label Gold Medalist stated, "After confirming the footage, we looked up the fine procedures, and the fine payment has been completed. We apologize once again for causing concern."
