Recently, amidst ongoing controversy surrounding the disruptions caused by broadcast filming, the production team of the TVing original series 'Pyramid Game' has extended an apology for the inconveniences caused on their set.
On September 18, the 'Pyramid Game' production team acknowledged their error and said, "We regret causing inconvenience to pedestrians at the filming location last week," sincerely apologizing for their failings during the production process.
They also vowed to improve the situation by saying, "Going forward, we will strengthen safety through more rigorous on-set management and make concerted efforts to prevent any unfortunate incidents from recurring."
The storyline of 'Pyramid Game' revolves around a high school student who must navigate bullying to triumph in a game, where student grades are determined by monthly votes. A Grade F student is depicted portraying a legitimate victim of school violence.
'Pyramid Game' garnered much attention with the cast lineup, including Cosmic Girls' Bona, Jang Won Young's older sister Jang Da Ah, and 'Single's Inferno 2' contestant Shin Seul Gi.
Such filming disruptions have led to many displeased posts in various online communities with titles such as "Another controversy surrounding filming disruptions."
In these posts, posters complained, "Last week, they blocked the school route for students yet again for filming, and today, a similar incident occurred. They installed filming equipment on the student route under the pretext of shooting a drama."
One particularly vexed poster expressed their frustration noting, "During filming, there was no one providing safety guidance. They blocked the pedestrian pathway, and the bicycle lane, forcing students to walk on the road."
Controversies surrounding filming disruptions have been a frequent issue this year. For instance, in April, according to the Hyehwa Police Station, an individual identified as Mr. A was accused of injuring a staff member, Mr. B, by throwing bricks during the filming of the drama 'The Diva of the Desert Island' in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, around 3:25 a.m. on April 26. The investigation was held without detention, and Mr. B was confirmed to have non-life-threatening injuries post-hospital treatment.
At that point, Mr. A said, "I couldn't sleep because of the light and noise during filming." In response, the drama production company pledged, "We will pay close attention to preventing a recurrence."
Moreover, in March, the production team of the Channel A dating variety show 'Heart Signal 4' incurred public backlash regarding the invasion of privacy in Jinkwan-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, due to the noise and drone filming.
They shouldn’t be disrupting people’s day to day life like that. Directors need to stop thinking they are above everyone
