On September 26 KST, ONEUS will launch their 10th mini album titled 'La Dolce Vita'. This album marks the group's comeback after four months, following their previous album, 'PYGMALION’. In preparation for the release of the album, the group sat down and opened up about the wide range of emotions during the the making of the album.
Looking back on their journey since their debut in 2019, ONEUS no longer fixates on the idea of being the 'No. 1' group. Member Leedo revealed, "at first, I was obsessed with the rankings. I was hurt a lot. The title of No. 1 singer seemed sweet. After participating in the contest program, I came back and realized that if we focus too much on numbers, we can falter musically."
Unlike most young artists who might fear discussion about contract renewal, ONEUS talks candidly about it. Leedo expresses that while he is keen on continuing with ONEUS, he also understands that their contract may end and things may change. "There are two years left (in the contract period). I think the members will talk a lot among themselves before they rush to make a decision. I think it will be okay for the members to decide among themselves for two years. I think I want to continue as a team, but it could end when the contract ends. There are many variables. It’s a matter to think about gradually," he said cautiously.
Leedo is no longer preoccupied with a desire for quick growth. He has taken a more reflective approach, focusing on their growth as a group rather than comparing them to others. Their unity as a group became stronger after experiencing the pain of losing a member.
However, the members still harbor unfulfilled desires. Leedo shared, "If I were to be greedy, I would like to be number one on the music charts. There are times when fans like us more than us. That's why I couldn't give up my desire to be number one. I also have a desire to be on the Billboard charts."
Hwanwoong also shared his conviction that despite facing trying times, they persist as they're confident their efforts will eventually bear fruit. He is optimistic that their latest album 'La Dolce Vita' will help them ascend to greater heights.
ONEUS' 10th mini album 'La Dolce Vita' will be available on various music platforms today September 26 at 6 PM KST.
