Nam Jihyun, who rose to fame as a member of the girl group 4minute, has clarified that she has not given up on acting, despite exploring new career paths in recent years.
On May 9, Nam shared a social media update explaining that she is still pursuing her passion for acting. She wrote that she had applied to the graduate program at Korea National University of Arts for the 2025 academic year but did not pass the second round of screening. The post included a photo of her exam slip, which showed she had applied to the Acting Department in the School of Drama through the general admissions process.
Nam explained that although she did not succeed this time, she is taking a long-term view and has not abandoned her dream of becoming an actress. Her recent activities as a business owner led some to believe she had left the entertainment industry, but she confirmed that this is not the case.
She previously worked as a pilates instructor and recently gained attention after launching her barre studio. Along with a photo taken at her studio, she shared a heartfelt message saying that creating a space she had imagined for three years helped her realize how nothing should be taken for granted. She added that by focusing on hard work and positive energy, she now feels a sense of happiness and wants to share that energy with others.
Nam Jihyun made her debut in 2009 with 4minute and began her acting career in 2010. The group officially disbanded in 2016.
