Actress Nam Bo Ra is getting married today, May 10th, turning a new page in her life nearly two decades after her debut in 2006. Known for her bright personality and considerate nature, Nam has earned a positive reputation in the entertainment industry throughout her career.
In an exclusive interview, Nam shared her heartfelt emotions leading up to the ceremony. “Preparing for the wedding made me reflect on many things,” she said. “Marriage is about wanting to spend more time together, but as we prepared, I realized that one of the reasons we’ve been so happy so far is because we’ve had so many good people around us.”
Nam expressed gratitude for the love and support from friends and family, noting how meaningful each congratulatory message felt. “Whenever someone said, ‘Congratulations, live happily,’ I was so thankful. It made me think, ‘Even for their sake, we should live well.’ Preparing for a wedding can be tough, but we approached it like planning a big party. Now that it’s almost over, I feel both relieved and a little sentimental.”

Nam’s fiancé is a businessman of the same age, and the couple grew closer during the wedding preparations. While many couples face tension during this time, Nam said they handled disagreements by taking a step back and communicating calmly. “We sometimes get emotional, but we sit down and talk it through. He’s kind and understanding, and I try not to be stubborn. When you listen to each other’s needs, you avoid most conflicts.”
Family support also played a big role. As the eldest daughter in a family of 13 siblings, Nam was deeply moved by the help she received from her sisters. “My younger sisters helped a lot,” she said. “Before the wedding, five of us went on a trip to Taiwan, and they surprised me with a bridal shower. I was so touched. They also helped fold invitations and supported me through the tough moments. Having many siblings really feels like having a strong support system.”

Comedian Kim Kiri will host the ceremony, while actresses Park Jin Joo and Kim Min Young, who formed a bond with Nam through the 2011 hit film 'Sunny,' will sing the congratulatory song. “I always thought it would be great if Kiri hosted and Jin Joo sang. When I asked, they readily agreed. Min Young will also join as part of a duet. Jin Joo is currently in a musical, and they all took time out of their busy schedules, which I’m truly grateful for.”
Nam spent a full year preparing for the wedding. “Popular venues are booked a year in advance, so we planned ahead. I didn’t have a particular fantasy about the ceremony. What mattered most was that our guests felt comfortable. That’s why we chose a venue close to parking and with good food.”
As she reflected on the guest list, Nam became emotional. “Thinking about who to invite made me realize how many people have helped shape my life. They’ve guided and supported me, and each memory felt so precious. Of course, not inviting someone doesn’t mean they’re not important to me.”
Lastly, Nam Bo Ra thanked her fans. “This is the start of a new chapter. I’ve been able to work steadily from a young age thanks to your support. I’m just a person with flaws, but I’m grateful you’ve embraced all of me. I’ll continue growing and living generously, and I look forward to greeting you again with a new project soon.”
