Jimin displays his talent and global popularity with his success in the big music markets, France and the UK
Jimin's power and impact as a solo artist has become impossible to ignore following his hugely successful solo debut that saw him set records never seen before in the history of Korean artists (like the first Korean solo artist to reach #1 on Spotify Global Daily Top Songs chart and to debut at #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, or first Korean soloist to reach #1 on both USA and Japan Billboard Artist 100 charts. His album is also the best-selling foreign album by a soloist in Japan [refer here], among many other records in the country [refer here]).
In some cases, the records he set had never been witnessed in the history of any artist in the world in general (like the artist with the most songs attaining #1 in over 100 countries (6) or the fastest songs to reach #1 in 100 countries).
In this aspect, it can be said that Jimin has conquered the top 2 largest music markets globally, USA and Japan. However, he did not stop there. His massive impact has also been felt in other top music markets, including France, the 5th largest music market globally. On Sept 3, his first ever self-written and composed song 'Promise' rose to #1 on France's iTunes all-genre song chart to become his 11th #1 hit in the country! He already had the most #1 hits in the country for any Korean/K-pop solo artist in history, thus he extended this record with the new #1. Notably, Jimin also owns this same record for USA and UK [here]. In addition, France is also one of the top music markets where Jimin had the biggest debut for any Korean soloist in history on the country's Spotify chart as of the time of his debut [read here].
Another top music market where Jimin's artistry has always been recognized is the UK, which ranks as the 3rd largest music market globally. Following his official solo debut, he also made major waves on the UK music market by becoming the first Korean soloist to enter the Top 10 of the UK Official Singles Chart, and went on to register the longest charting Korean Solo song in the Top 40 on the chart.
All these records have been widely reported on previously by numerous media outlets, but what makes his achievements on the UK market special is the fact that many may not know but Jimin was already a force to reckon with on the global music scene, particularly in the case of the UK, long before his official solo debut. It shows that the UK already recognized and marveled at his talent years ago. This fact has been explicitly demonstrated through data recently released by the UK Official Charts.
Recently, the UK Official Charts published an article with a compiled list of BTS' Biggest Official Top 40 Songs in the UK. It so happens that on this list, Jimin's solo songs under BTS' discography (before his official solo debut) appeared three times! They included 'Filter', 'Lie' and 'Serendipity' at positions 28, 38 and 39 respectively on the list.
Jimin is the only member who had 3 of his solo songs appearing on this list! In fact, there were only 4 solo songs in total that made it onto this list, and Jimin owned 3 of them! This is irrefutable proof of his impact on the UK music market purely with his talent, as he never promoted these songs and they were all B-side tracks in BTS' albums over the years. It is an achievement worth of applause and Korean media outlets have reported on it as well [read here].
Looking back at his performance on UK charts, Jimin managed to enter the Official Singles Chart back in 2020 with his hit solo song 'Filter' from BTS' MOTS:7 album release, and was the only member to debut on this chart.
Moreover, both 'Lie' and 'Serendipity' have been among BTS' most streamed songs in the UK since 2019, with 'Serendipity' entering the top 40 of BTS' most streamed songs in 2020.
Congratulations Jiminie💞
