On the morning of June 27 KST, director Kim Yong Hwa, Seol Kyung Goo, EXO's D.O, and Kim Hee Ae attended a press conference for the upcoming premiere of the blockbuster sci-fi film, 'The Moon'.
Known for his work on the film series 'Along with the Gods', director Kim Yong Hwa previously garnered attention for casting D.O. in his new project, 'The Moon', almost immediately after wrapping up work on 'Along with the Gods' back in 2020.
Now, with the premiere of the sci-film less than two months away, director Kim Yong Hwa opened up about his decision to cast D.O. as the character Hwang Sun Woo. The director began, "[D.O.] is an actor I have watched from a close distance, and an actor I adore."
He continued, "I've listened to his life story. From the environment he grew up in, to how he got to be where he is today. I know more about him than most people. I would say that there is a great, great actor in him. He is extremely selfless, a real man. But he also had his own struggles in his life. Someone who is very similar to Hwang Sun Woo in those ways. And yet, he does not show those painful memories to others. That is his charm. I believe that he will thrive as an actor for a long time. People like him go far in this industry. I hold him in high regard."
Meanwhile, 'The Moon' follows the story of an astronaut who is stranded on the face of the moon after an accident. Those back on earth must defy the odds to bring him home. The film is expected to premiere in Korea on August 2.
Are the down votes there permanent? Ha Ha Ha. I see them on every EXO article. Anyway....
I'm crying over what this director said. Because I really want to see Actor Kyungsoo for a very very long time. His range is amazing. He has natural talent in interpretation of characters as well as acting. He can only get better with project. I wish this movie would be released all around the world. I would be first in the queue.
