LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans have received 'Platinum' certification in the streaming category from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. The announcement was made by the Association on June 27, indicating that LE SSERAFIM's "ANTIFRAGILE" and NewJeans' "Ditto" each garnered 100 million plays as of last May, achieving 'Platinum' certification.
This achievement is even more significant because it was accomplished prior to LE SSERAFIM's comeback in Japan. They are set to release their 2nd single 'UNFORGIVEN' on August 23, which includes the title song "UNFORGIVEN (feat. Nile Rodgers)", the Japanese version of "ANTIFRAGILE", and a new song collaborated with popular artists.
It is also notable that NewJeans has yet to make their official debut in Japan. However, their album 'OMG', which contains "Ditto", is gaining great popularity, topping Oricon's weekly combined singles rankings.
The Recording Industry Association of Japan categorizes songs into gold (more than 50 million times), platinum (more than 100 million times), and diamond (more than 500 million times) depending on the number of cumulative plays, and grants certifications every month.
Wow! Congratulations to Le Sserafim and NewJeans!
