A story of a customer who found a cigarette butt in their fried chicken is garnering attention in Korea.

On August 9, a netizen created a post titled "I ordered fried chicken and got a fried cigarette butt" in the popular online community, Nate Pann.

The poster included photos and explained, "I ordered boneless fried chicken through a delivery app, and I found something that looked like a bone. When I looked carefully, it was a cigarette butt."

The customer who wrote the post explained, "When I took a careful look, it was a cigarette butt. I called the branch restaurant and complained, but their attitude angered me. The restaurant said there are two owners, a woman, and a man, and they both said they don't smoke and stated they can't do anything."

The post continued, "Then they said, 'Isn't it a french fry? Try eating it.' They would say things like 'Enjoy your food' and kept trying to hang up the phone, so I asked how I would eat it, and the female owner told us to remove that part out and just eat the rest. I was so mad so I told them I would report them to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety."

The customer continued to say that the owner got mad, but ultimately the male owner came to his house to see the chicken in person. The poster explained, "He admitted and acknowledged that it was a cigarette butt. The two owners didn't apologize until the end. So I got so angry and said I would report them to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and told them I will contact them when the results come out. When I did that they screamed at us, telling us not to live like that. lol."

The poster continued to update the post and explained that they reported the restaurant to franchise headquarters, but the owners continued to claim that they don't smoke. The poster continued to explain, "I contacted the headquarters of that franchise and they kept claiming the owners of that store do not smoke. They said they will take the chicken back so I told them I would send it to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety."

Other netizens were baffled by the action of the franchise and the owners. They criticized, "The cigarette butt was fried with the batter; you should definitely report it to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety," "Usually all branches are different for large franchises but even the headquarters of the franchise are responding like sh*t. This is disappointing. They should apologize and should compensate. But they're saying that the owners of that branch do not smoke??? this is legendary," and "They definitely fried the cigarette butt with the batter."
