From Celine, Fendi, and Lanvin to small businesses like CNMADE, BTS's V has become an 'Unofficial Brand Ambassador' for a plethora of brands
BTS surprised the world quite recently as it was announced that the septate will take on the role of in-house ambassadors of the luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton. It was an unprecedented move since the band has always avoided associating itself with just one brand.
However, fans still await the members to take up individual projects as one brand can not represent the diverse styles of all. BTS's V is one member who has the world hooked and the fashion world wrapped around his finger without having any individual activities. Brands can only wish V chooses to wear their clothes.
Even though V is now an ambassador for Louis Vuitton, he has long been getting love calls from brands like Fendi and Celine. Whenever he is seen wearing their garments, their SNS handles are quick to promote the product as something that V donned. It is well known that BTS members have a say in their styling, so being chosen by V is an honor in itself and worth celebrating.
As soon as the designer of his clothes is revealed, fans make sure to hoard every last piece in order to wear the clothes that V unknowingly modeled so well. Peter Utz, Director of Couture and Events at Celine, has even expressed his desire to have V attend their fashion show despite being associated with a big name like Blackpink's Lisa. It's difficult for anyone to stay loyal, as having V as one's representative is such a lucrative prospect. He is, perhaps, the 'Unofficial Brand Ambassador' of all the top players in the fashion industry.
The famous French fashion house, Jacquemus, was seen retweeting tweets that featured V wearing the legendary sunflower shirt for the group's performance at the BBMAs. Lanvin, a French multinational high fashion house, also took to their Instagram stories to promote the cardigan that was worn by V for the 'Dynamite' music video. The cardigan, priced at $1190, sold out quickly.
The concept pictures for BTS' Butter were recently released, and Taehyung stunned the internet with his chic and androgynous look. Every item that he wore became a hot item, and the designers used his name to heavily promote their brand. Accessories that he wore were labeled as "Worn by BTS' V' on the official site.
V also became the 'V-light' of hope for CNMADE, a small bracelet business that was struggling before V started wearing their bracelets. The brand has since seen tremendous growth and is internationally recognized.
This strong desire to be associated with his name is not only limited to fashion brands. Even authors market their books as "read by BTS V" in order to attract fans.
reported about V's strong influence on the publishing business world of Korea and Japan. Books that V has been captured with became best-sellers and were marketed using his name even on Amazon.
With so many brands using his name, V probably has the greatest brand value in South Korea at the moment. However, the stance of HYBE on the individual activities of the members is stopping him from becoming the official ambassador. Till the time HYBE doesn't allow members to pursue individual endorsements, V will remain the guilty pleasure of these businesses.
