Today, the Korean music industry is mostly dominated by K-Pop and recently, K-Hip Hop. However, my favorite genre of music in the Korean music scene these days is neither one of these. It's Korean Indie, and there are good reasons why. For an industry that is regularly criticized for crediting looks over talent, mistreating artists, and plagiarism, K-Indie is a breath of fresh air that prizes simple, musical joy without flashy dance moves and overly-hyped MV's.
Personally, my favorite K-Indie songs are generally soft (so I can listen to them while reading or studying) but are also embedded with strong emotions that trigger powerful feelings such as nostalgia and love. So without further delay, here are my top 5 K-Indie songs that will make you fall in love with the genre.
1. The Black Skirts - "EVERYTHING"
2. Colde - "Your Dog Loves You" (feat. Crush)
3. Rad Museum - "Dancing In the Rain" (feat. Jusén)
4. ideadead - "Bitter"
5. OFFONOFF - "Moon, 12:04am"
Let's start a discussion below. What do you think about K-Indie? Do you have any K-Indie songs you'd like to suggest to the AKP community?
My first ever comment, so glad that's it's for this post! I'm so much in love with K-indie which I think is too underestimated ... And I'm very happy to see that I've already listened to all this music several hundred times already. I highly recommended it too. Very glad to see this post . Thank you :)) !!!
