On the October 26 installment of 'MV Bank Stardust,' 24K and other idols were interviewed on their way to a music show. One of the segments was a game to see the group's teamwork. The show host, a comedian named Seung Hye, would say a word and the idols would do a gesture to see if all the members would do the same one.
For the 24K members, the word was 'oh jing uh' (squid, also a slang to call someone ugly), and when it was time for a gesture, one of the members pointed to Seung Hye, indicating that she was the squid. When the comedian protested, the 24K member explains that it's because she is slender like a squid and the situation seemed to have been resolved.
However, many people who watched the show are angry, saying that they were rude to call someone ugly. Here are some of the netizen comments:
"That's so rude...Plus Seung Hye is really pretty."
"They seem to look down on her because she is a comedian...That's very impolite."
"I know knew their group name...Now I don't want to know anything more about them. Doesn't matter whether they're friends with her, I think it's the worst to put someone down for their looks."
"Seung Hye is a sunbae. She actually debuted as an SBS comedian 10 years ago, and she even debuted as a singer."
"What's funny about this...? This would be offensive even amongst friends."
What do you think? Was it just an innocent joke or did they cross the line? Watch the clip above starting from the 6:23 mark.
