An incredibly unfortunate and sad missing persons case has many scratching their heads in bewilderment.
Back on March 14, media outlet Insight had reported on the story of a family that was in desperate search of their son, Shin Won Chang, who went missing on March 10 at around 5:45 p.m. According to the report, Shin was last seen on a CCTV recording at an elementary school in Seongnam; he was returning home on his bicycle after finishing up training for the reserve forces. At the time, Shin was dressed in military uniform under khaki-colored outerwear. Shin's family tried to reach him for a week, all to no avail.
According to the police, Shin Won Chang was last in contact with a deliveryman around 3 p.m. on the day he went missing. Seven days later on March 17, Shin's body was discovered in the basement of a building in Bundang District. The building, located nearby Ori Station's exit, was investigated to be a place Shin frequented with his acquaintances.
A police rep stated, "We have preserved the scene and are awaiting news from the forensics team. It hasn't been confirmed whether there are any injuries on the body."
Police are currently working to crack down on the case and plan to request an autopsy from the National Forensic Service (NFS) in order to discover the manner and cause of Shin's death.
A person without any known health complications usually doesn't keel over randomly. Hopefully, the police will be able to get to the bottom of Shin's death.
