MURIM SCHOOL - EPISODE 14
More ear candy from the OST:
Three days pass, and the students begin to come back to the school, including our core group. The faculty is back, too, and welcomed warmly by the kids. But the new principal is not done yet. He hires three new teachers, including a new martial arts teacher, Kim Sook Yi, a sadistic woman who has an expression like she smells something foul; she has the students practice with live steel. Si Woo visits Soon Duk at her home, where she is nursing her father back to health, and confesses to her. Chi Ang hardens and decides that he is his father's son and will get the artifact, because that's what his father would do. Principal Bup Gong figures that maybe Hwang took the artifact with him when he left. Juk Poong agents tail and pursue ex-principal Hwang through the streets in town, but he evades their clutches. Hwang is looking for Chae Yoon. Chi Ang drops by Soon Duk's and holds her -- she can feel how lost he is at this point. Back at the school, Si Woo ponders his friendship with Chi Ang and weeps...
Okay, I was dead wrong about Chi Ang. Rather than using his hatred of his father as a springboard to do good, he now parrots lines like "I am my father's son" and uses that to justify being a jerk. It's kind of sad, because now we don't have long for him to redeem himself, if he ever does. He's back to being at odds with Si Woo, jealous of the idol's relationship with Soon Duk. I do hope that we get the bromance back, but I have the feeling that it will take a lethal blow to make Chi Ang come around, and by then it will be too late.
They say "you are what you eat." If true, she must eat a lot of prunes.
I was glad Si Woo finally fully dedicated himself to Soon Duk. Ironically, it was Chi Ang trying to talk him out of being with her that made him realize this; there's not room for her in his world, but she is his whole world. It's nice to see a bit of romance here, where tempers flare easily and things go from happy to dark at the drop of a hat. I want to see more things like this, but I also like the uneasy truce between the professors as they vie for the attention of the sports and dance teacher, Yoo Di. So I guess one romance is enough.
This installment moved a little faster than Episode 13 -- there was more conflict here as things move to a close. The last two episodes are next week. See, that's what I meant by show us, don't tell us. I guess I can't blame them, though, since they have to wedge large chunks of the plot into the episodes by the shovelful to get the story to us, as my readers have reminded me about the truncated run. Which is sad. I would have liked to see this in its original form before they had to adjust things.
Well, at least Chi Ang and Si Woo are getting some exercise...
I'm still here. I think it's all been building to the climax, and we've got some surprises in store for the last two. I'm pretty sure that it will involve the students against the new teachers, and Si Woo using that neat trick. At least, I'm hoping! Murim School fighting!
