During his interview session with etoday which took place at The Plaza Hotel on February 11, Ryu Joon Yeol addressed the so-called conflict he had with the 'Reply 1988' production team.
The actor revealed his thoughts on his character Jung Hwan not being selected as the husband, saying, "Jung Hwan continued his painful love but I think he naturally said farewell which fits his character. Personally I don't feel regretful or disappointed."

Ryu Joon Yeol further addressed the alleged conflict that arose between him and 'Reply 1988's production crew when Taek suddenly became the husband.
He explained, "I don't do internet so I heard the rumor at the company. The conflict rumor is completely unfounded. I'm worked on a great drama and I just spend everyday gratefully for getting to meet good people, production team, and friends."
