According to Korea Post, one mailman, a 30-year-old named Ki Kwang Seo, had discovered an elderly woman who was passed out on an apartment staircase while he was out delivering packages back in November.
The woman, who was bleeding from her head, was collapsed on the steps leading to the apartment's entryway, getting soaked in the falling rain. Ki immediately dialed 911 and guarded the woman's side, shielding her all the while from the rain with his umbrella. Another mailman, 43-year-old Kim Gil Seob, saw his comrade and came over to help, a towel in hand to wipe the rainwater from the elderly woman's body.
The two's deeds came to light after an inhabitant of the apartment happened to witness them in their kindly act and felt impelled to share the heartwarming story on Korea Post's official website.
Ki and Kim's fellow mailmen showered Ki and Kim with compliments, saying, "The two are usually kind to their neighbors. If that post wasn't uploaded, then their good deeds may have gone unnoticed."
Ki himself explained, "I found the elderly woman by chance while I was delivering mail at an apartment I typically don't deliver to. She was bleeding profusely at the time so it's a relief that she is fine now. I just did what any other person would have done," staying humble about his good samaritan deed.
